brief view

taoism is probably best known as a far eastern belief of Chinese origin, which was supposedly first introduced at least 2,500 years ago by a learned individual known as Lao Tzu.  there is question to whether Lao Tzu historically existed and if there were in fact more than one author of his well-known text the Tao Te Ching.

according to western understanding a translation of tao is thought to be known as ‘the way’, which is felt to convey itself as beyond possession or grasped in linguistic terms, but also nameless in its integral part to the natural workings of the universe.

achieving harmony would present as one of its major tenants with other worth mentioning concepts such as wu wei, yin and yang, the three treasures, naturalism and pluralism.
