from my western perspective taoism or daoism in its philosophy presents as exquisitely exotic.  it has an appeal steeped in history, deep in meaning with a wonderful connectedness to the greater world surrounding it.

it possesses a lovely human relational quality, which in transmission can be humorous, warm, interesting and at moments contains an ambiguity or elusiveness, which is neither discomforting or dismissive.

in it religiousness there’s a whole pantheon of amazing gods, spirits and saints, which doesn’t necessarily have to be taken literally in its philosophical aspect, but if well regarded can add a beautiful moral texture and understanding of the everyday.
